Angel Eyes Publishing's new release, "The Face of Child Support", is not just another book about child support that villainizes mothers or fathers, it brings to life the real reason why parents should work together for the total development of their children. "The Face of Child Support" chronicles the Child Support System and related agencies, the author and zealous child support advocate, Dawnette Lounds-Culp, places emphasis on strengthening the relationship between parents when one parent is not living in the same household.
“Many parents, both custodial and non-custodial, are emotionally affected by the issue of child support," said Lounds-Culp. “Some non-custodial parents are resentful that they are being ordered to pay support by the court system and some custodial parents are bitter because the non-custodial parent will not paythis causes deep division between the parents, which unfortunately negatively impacts the childrens' social and even mental development."
According to Lounds-Culp’s extensive research, there are over 18 million families of all cultures in the United States who rely on the child support system and she estimates that there are just as many families, if not more, who have not applied for child support. Also, there is over $100 billion owed to parents (custodial) uncollected in child support that affects millions of children.
This is critical because if the parents don't apply for child support and have no documented record of doing so, they are denied the opportunity to possibly collect in the future, which many parents can still do and don't realize it," said Lounds-Culp. “I am hoping that the information shared in my book, will help to lessen the pain experienced in families, drastically decrease the numbers of non-supportive parents trying to avoid the system and relieve familial dependence on the government for assistance."
There are a number of personal testimonies shared in "The Face of Child Support," book from both men and women, custodial and noncustodial parents, in addition to an account of my own experience with the issue," said Lounds-Culp. “My ultimate goal in compiling this information, however is to protect the children, help everyone to productively move on with their lives and to not portray either parent in a negative light."
“I commend those non-custodial parents who pay their child support and are actively involved in their children's lives," Lounds-Culp said. “They are supporting their children in a tangible and emotional way. Unfortunately, those who choose not to pay and not spend time with their children create a very real emotional and, often, financial hardships in their children's households. That's when government intervention becomes necessary."
"The Face of Child Support" addresses how to maneuver the system and how to get to the heart of the matter: the children who are impacted by this divisive issue.
The purpose of my sharing my story and others I've heard is to clarify the issues and help the adults involved to
honor their responsibilities. Ultimately, each parentcustodial and non-custodialis responsible for playing
his and her role in the care and development of their child.
The Bottom Line: We have to get beyond the emotion and do what's
right for the child.

The custodial parent and non-custodial parent are both vital in the development, physically and emotionally
of their children. Historically, child support enforcement's goal provided four major services to our customers:
